Do you have some spare time and willing toVolunteer your services?
Then Volunteers are sought to assist in the operational running of the Halton Farnworth Hornets arlfc (HFH).
Are you a qualified coach looking for new challenges and working with new people?
Are you interested in becoming a coach and been part of the oldest established arlfc in the area?
Are you more inclined towards the administrative aspect of running a team?
Are you limited by the amount of time you could offer but still wishing to get involved?
Are you the opposite; have some free time and wish to put something back into the community?
Well, these are just a small array of circumstances from which Volunteers can arise. Whatever your situation, if you are considering the Voluntary sporting section, then the HFH Club could be you prime choice.

HSE EMERGENCY FIRST AID (Sport Related)
[A basic first aid training course geared towards dealing with sport-related
incidents. This is a health and safety executive Certified course and a must
for anyone involved with sport.]
FUNDAMENTALS OF MOVEMENT
[On this course you’ll come away from this workshop with a thorough grounding
in the concepts of agility, balance and coordination as well as the importance
of play, fun and enjoyment in sport.
Who Is This For?
Coaches with some understanding of Long Term Athlete Development.
You Will Learn To:
Fine-tune your observational and analytical skills to coach good movement
patterns – whether for a specific sport or in multi-skill sessions.
Help your youngsters to master the fundamental techniques of movement –
from stability to rhythm and from acceleration to jumping and kicking.
By the end of this workshop, coaches will have knowledge of:
Agility – dynamic stability, starting and stopping, momentum, acceleration
and rhythm.
Balance – establishing a stable core, static ability, exploring centre of
gravity and base of support.
Coordination – in relation to disassociating body parts and the coordination
of explosive actions, including jumping, throwing, striking and kicking.]

SAFEGUARDING & PROTECTING CHILDREN
[This workshop will help coaches to recognise signs of abuse and poor practice,
and deal sensitively with issues that may arise. It also prompts a review of
coaching practice to ensure that sport provides a positive and enriching experience
for children. This course is a ‘must’ for all coaches. Candiadtes aged 16 & 17 years
old must be accompanied by a responsible adult.]

Workshop Summary:
This workshop aims to increase awareness of safeguarding and protecting children,
helping coaches to recognise signs of abuse and poor practice, and deal sensitively and
effectively with issues that arise. It also prompts a review of coaching practice to
ensure that sport provides a positive and enriching experience for children.
Outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
• identify and recognise good coaching practice and the implications for them
• explore their values and feelings in relation to child abuse, and recognise how these
maypotentially impact on their response
• recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms of child abuse and poor practice
• take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise.
Who is it for?
UKCC Level 1 and 2 coaches.
The workshop is a Minimum Operating Standard requirement for many governing
bodies of sport, it can be delivered to all those responsible for organising children’s
sport (e.g. within governing bodies of sport, local authorities, sports and leisure
centres, sports clubs) and those who lead or deliver children’s sport programmes
(e.g. coaches, leaders, instructors, development officials, administrators,
volunteers, parents).
EQUITY IN YOUR COACHING
[This workshop is aimed at all coaches who wish to ensure that their coaching practices
are fair and equitable and to raise coach’s awareness as to the barriers that participants
may face. This course is a must for all coaches for club accreditation.]

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT IN SPORT
[This workshop is aimed at UKCC Level 2 Coaches working with young people either within a school
or a Club environment. This workshop aims to increase coaches' awareness of the behaviour of young
people and the impact a coach's own behaviour may have on others.]
By the end of the workshop, coaches will be able to:
Understand the range of behaviour coaches may need to deal with.
Understand and appply the principles that create a positive coaching environment.
Understand and apply strategies to deal with challenging behaviour.

SPORTS LEADERS UK DAY CERTIFICATE IN SPORT LEADERSHIP
[The Day Certificate in Sports Leadership provides an ideal starting point for people from aged 16 years who have
very little or no sport leadership knowledge. The Certificate aims to provide a 7 hour training package and resource
that will enable you to develop generic leadership skills and increase your confidence so that you may assist with
delivery of simple sports activities for young people.

BUSINESS ESSENTIALS COURSE
[Organised by GBSport - Promoted by HSP]
This interactive course provides essential business and financial information for sports coaches and their
clients to ensure both parties satisfy government regulations and requirements.
The course includes advice and guidance on the following:
LEGAL STATUS
We detail the definitions and requirements for the various ways coaches/workers can be paid in sport -
self-employment, employment, casual work, volunteering with expenses - and outline the paperwork required
for each of these types of service.
SELF-EMPLOYMENT
We outline the strict HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) self-employment guidelines that, if not satisfied,
can result in a hefty tax bill for both coach and client. We detail how to check whether you are meeting
the guidelines and what documentation is required to satisfy HMRC.
EMPLOYMENT
We review the various types of employment available to those in sport, including a detailed look at flexible
contracts such as zero hours and casual worker contracts. We outline the paperwork required by HMRC for
the various types of service.
CONTRACTS
We provide delegates with a sample contract for self-employment which outlines the ideal working
arrangements for both coach and client to meet the HMRC self-employment guidelines.
INSURANCE
We detail the Health and Safety and insurance requirements for coaches and clients and how to minimise
the risk of a policy not paying out.
MARKETING ESSENTIALS COURSE

What is a brand and how to build one that will professionalise your services and increase your income.
PLANNING
How to put together a business/marketing plan that is simple to use and update, including examples of the

The key elements you need when researching your brand and competitors with practical ideas and examples.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Why first impressions count appearance, punctuality, facilities, your team - and we review best practice for
customer care.
SOCIAL MEDIA
How to use Facebook and Twitter to bring your services into the 21 st century and increase your profile and
income.
GOOD PRACTICE
Case studies showing some of the best ideas we have come across in sport for you to implement in your
programme.
COURSE RESOURCES
All delegates attending the courses receive an electronic copy of the relevant course material as well as essential forms,
guides and sample contracts. We believe that our courses are currently the only training of their type specifically available
for sports coaches and administrators and that they provide essential information to ensure that they are operating legally
and safely and thereby play an important part in professionalising the services they provide.
Places on the courses cost just £45 per delegate per course and are approved for licence credits with relevant National
Governing Bodies.

FUNDING FOR YOUR CLUB THEORY WORKSHOP
[Sports Clubs can always use more money and this workshop will give volunteers some creative ideas
for raising funds for a sports development project without needing huge capital budgets to get started.
The workshop covers practical and creative fundraising tips, event organisation, sponsoship, promotion,
accessing different types of funding and developing a budget.]
